Trainer Academy

The Trainer Academy is a trainer support program designed for people who would like to be trainers. The Trainer Academy consists of career goal advising, non-credit training, and mentorship and observation designed using the key areas of the Trainer Knowledge and Competency Framework. The Trainer Academy is specifically designed to support the growing knowledge and skills of professionals working toward the goal of applying to be a Foundational Trainer. The time that it takes to complete the Trainer Academy will vary depending on an individual’s training history, ability to meet requirements, and need for mentoring and observation.

Are you an Achieve-approved trainer? If the answer is yes, reach out to the TARSS coaching and observation program at TARSS@umn.edu. We will assist you with other ways to enhance your training practice!

If you have reached Career Lattice Step 6, and you already have experience or training in how to be an effective trainer, you do not need to participate in Trainer Academy. Apply to become an Achieve-approved trainer!

If you have not yet reached Career Lattice Step 6 (the minimum requirement for trainers), or if you don’t yet have experience or training in how to be an effective trainer, then Trainer Academy is for you!

If you don’t yet have such experience and training, then Trainer Academy is for you!

Information Sessions

TARSS is hosting information sessions about the Trainer Academy. Come to a 30-minute Zoom session to learn more about the program and find out if it’s a good fit for you! These presentations will be recorded and available after the session.
