RIOS™ 2: Advanced Reflective Supervision Using the Reflective Interaction Observation Scale (RIOS) Framework

Who should sign up: people who work with young children and their families, people who receive reflective supervision or consultation for their work, people who are (or are preparing to be) reflective supervisors or consultants 
Prerequisites: Completion of RIOS 1: Using the Reflective Interaction Observation Scale (RIOS) Framework for Reflective Supervision

Using the RIOS as a framework, learn to create a reflective alliance with individuals and groups to help professionals build skills and increase efficacy.

Course participant

    Participants will expand their knowledge of the following:

    • The theoretical foundation of reflective supervision
    • Best practices for reflective supervision
    • Developing a reflective relationship
    • Including race and culture in reflective supervision conversations
    • Cultivating reflective capacity in yourself and others
    • Addressing common supervisory challenges

    This course addresses the following infant mental health competencies of the Endorsement for Culturally Sensitive, Relationship-Focused Practice Promoting Infant Mental Health®:

    • Law, Regulation, and Agency Policy: ethical practice
    • Working With Others: building and maintaining relationships, supporting others/mentoring, collaborating, resolving conflict, empathy and compassion, consulting
    • Leading People: motivating, advocacy, developing talent
    • Communicating: listening, speaking, writing
    • Thinking: analyzing information, solving problems, exercising sound judgment, maintaining perspective, planning and organizing
    • Reflection: contemplation, self-awareness, curiosity, professional/personal development, emotional response, parallel process

    Although I have been facilitating RS/C for many years I found the content and the focus of this course very useful. I really enjoyed reading posts from other students and having the opportunity to respond. I would recommend this course to others.
