The Training of Trainers (TOT) process explained visually

We receive many questions about when, how, and why TOTs are scheduled, so we developed an infographic that illustrates the TOT process from start to finish!

Training of Trainers (TOT) infographic

The infographic is title Training of Trainers (TOT) Process. The graphic describes a process with five steps, each symbolized by a circle. The circles are connected by wavy lines resembling roadways. Here is how the five steps are described in the infographic:

  1. Needs Identified: The Minnesota Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) receives feedback that there is a need for more trainers on a specific course, OR creates/revises state-owned courses.
  2. TARSS Schedules: TARSS uses the DCYF Trainer Criteria to implement the TOT. TARSS identifies an instructor and plans the dates of the TOT.
  3. Application Opens: The application opens and TARSS announces it in The Source. Applicants are scored and accepted based on the DCYF Trainer Criteria.
  4. TOT Events: The participants review the curriculum and attend the TOT event(s).
  5. Participants Added to Develop: Participants completing the TOT are added as authorized trainers.
