Reflective consultation facilitates quality care for children by focusing on relationships. Relationships are where learning and change can take place.
Reflective consultation involves attending to the feelings and experiences of adults and children to improve services, as well as to address stress and prevent burnout in professionals working with infants, young children, and their families. It’s a partnership between the consultant and the child’s care provider, teacher, or other practitioner.
The partnership in turn serves as a model for other relationships. For example, it can be the model for a caregiver’s relationship with the infant or child for which they care.
